Most painful chronic conditions are due to adhesions or scar tissue formation throughout the muscles, tendons and ligaments, collectively called “Soft Tissues”. These soft tissues are responsible for moving and protecting the joints throughout the body and spine.
Even minor injuries can start the stage for scar tissue development and over years result in debilitating conditions of the neuromusculoskeletal system. In the muscles, symptoms can range from tightness, stiffness, soreness to trigger points, cramps and uncontrollable muscle spasms. In the skeletal system or bones/joints, the results can be excessive wear and tear or degeneration, arthritis, etc. and can cause tearing in the spinal disc (bulging disc, herniated disc, disc degeneration and spinal stenosis). Nervous system symptoms can be headaches, neuralgia, radiculopathies, neuropathies, and sciatica to name a few.
Commonly, these conditions are typically treated with over-the-counter medications, exercise and rest. As the condition progress, prescriptive medications, shots and sometimes surgeries can provide short term relief, but the cause of the condition isn’t being corrected.
Sedative Stretching (sometimes referred to as MUA, or manipulation under anesthesia) is a powerful, non-invasive, and extremely safe procedure allowing specially trained physicians to move and completely stretch scar tissues and adhesions from the affected areas, thus correcting the original cause of the condition. With the proper rehabilitation, the patients who receive the Sedative Stretching procedure can return to normal activities without the pain and discomfort they experienced before.
